Working from home is something that a lot of people perceive as being able to go on vacation when you want to; however, this is something that I am going to let you know right away is a myth. I have been working from home for two years and, to be honest, I have not been able to go on one vacation. Obviously, there are times when I could have gone on vacation but chose not to. Now I am going to explain how one who works from home can fit vacations into their work-from-home lifestyle.
Let Your Clients Know In Advance
Just because you work from home, it does not mean that you are 100 percent free — well if you want to keep a job. Clients are going to expect you to meet your deadlines and there are even some who think that you should be on call every day. For those of you who have clients who assign you your work in advance and give you a deadline, you can pretty much book your vacation whenever. All you have to do is do your work and send it to them before the deadline; however, if your work is inconsistent and you randomly receive orders, you have to do things a little bit different. You are going to have to email all of your clients and let them know you will be on vacation for a length of time and will not be able to accept any more orders until a specific date. Additionally, you may also want to set up an automatic response email so, in the event that they forget, they will be reminded when they try to send you an order.
Check Your Finances
When working from home, it is important to always make sure that you have money saved for a rainy day. Some months may be extremely well for you while others may not. So, when you are thinking about taking a vacation, you are first going to want to make sure that you have enough money to cover your bills for the month, your food costs and your vacation expenses.
If you follow the two tips that have been provided, you will be well on your way to being able to fit a vacation into your work-from-home lifestyle. I love to take vacations. For example, when I go to San Bruno, California I love to stay at the Villa Montes Hotel in San Bruno California.
