Do you often find yourself thinking that there are just not enough hours in the day? Do you have minor spans throughout the day that you have written off as being unusable? If the answer to one or both of these questions has been yes, it is time to read this article to find out how you can increase your productivity with some simple and fun methods.
Do Your Most Time Consuming Tasks First
Usually, when freelancers first wake up they have the most energy and motivation. It is a new day and you should start off with your most time consuming tasks first and save the simple tasks for last. By doing so you will find that your days will go by faster. When you do the time consuming tasks first you will find your work days ending sooner which will mean you have been more productive. Never put off a task for tomorrow when it could have been done today.
Avoid Social Media
Social media is something that all entrepreneurs have to use. However, instead of starting your day off procrastinating on social media start it off looking forward to finishing your work and then turning to social media as a reward. Make sure that you have your phone ringer turned off too because those alerts will distract you and you will find yourself on that dreaded social media.
Set a Timer
When you have something to do more than likely you know how long it is going to take you to get it done. So, set a time to insure that you meet the given limit so you are not only increasing your productivity but you are making a decent amount of money an hour at the same time. The goal is to have the task completed before the timer goes off. This means that anything or anyone who tries to distract you from your task should be tuned out until the timer goes off or you complete the task.
No One Expects Perfection
Regardless, of whatever you may have on your to-do-list for the day it does not have to be perfect. If you are checking emails and organizing things be brief with email responses and move important emails to the appropriate folders. You do not have to knit pick at everything because no one is expecting you to be perfect.
Time Your Breaks
Entrepreneurs have to take breaks too. This is when a timer comes back into play again. So, once you finish one task set your timer again for a period of 15-30 minutes and leave your desk and do something. You may take some time to catch up on a show or simply go outside and get some fresh air. It doesn’t matter what you do with your break time just resist going back to continue working on the next task. Your body and mind will thank you later.
If you follow these tips and tricks that I have outlined above you will find that majority of the time your days are going to be way more productive than you could have ever imagined. In the event that you do not complete your to do list you will find that you were able to complete much more than you could have done if you did not follow these steps.
